Hello, readers!
Welcome to issue 16 of gou-rou.com! Yes, issue 16! June 2006! Following hot on the heels of issue 15, which was published in April 2006!
You may have noticed some delay in the gou-rou.com schedule. Indeed, we're not happy about it, but May 2006 will forever be The Month That Got Away. What happened? Well, let's just say that due to a power failure or two, a union dispute, and a restraining order placed on our managing director Todd by a court in Winnipeg, we managed to lose the month. Not just the freelancer contributions and our layout files (though we lost those too) but the whole month.
When we checked our calendars the day after the end of April, May was nowhere to be seen. In the interim, several people had lost their jobs at other companies. It's painful for all involved, so I think it's best if we simply draw a veil over the whole episode. There's no point in pointing fingers and blaming so-and-so or whosisface for losing May. It just happened. True, if certain people hadn't taken May out of its protective casing so that it would "run smoother", maybe the whole thing wouldn't have happened. But what's done is done.
So what's in this issue? Well, we've got reports on the upcoming Sino-Chinese Friendship Year, the state of badmington in China, and what's been happening to one of China's favourite entertainers. We also have an audio report from Chad Rotoscope, the Month in Pictures, fashion advice, TV highlights, and more!
Get ready to tuck in to gou-rou.com's delicious news-fish, journo-dynamited for you from the lake of fact, and cooked to perfection on the stove of journalism.
Enjoy!
